Water Feature Upgrades, Repairs and Monitoring Equipment: The iconic water features throughout Betty Ford Alpine Gardens create the peaceful and tranquil environment that visitors love. And as beautiful as they are, they need your help. The Gardens needs to install monitoring equipment and new liners and upgrade piping to ensure that these iconic waterfalls continue to exist. Years of pressure through the system have degraded the infrastructure and these water features need major work to continue their role as a critical part of the Gardens’ experience. Estimated Project Cost: $30,000

Saxifrage Tufa Rock Garden: High above treeline in alpine climates, barren rock and jagged peaks dominate the landscape. Yet, if given a closer inspection, a vast ecosystem grows in the unforgiving environment.

Luckily, thanks to Betty Ford Alpine Gardens, people can step into that ecosystem without having to trek for it. This new front entrance Garden will be built from tufa rock, a porous limestone rock useful in growing many alpine and lime loving plants.

It is tufa’s porosity that makes it such an ideal medium for growing alpines. This porosity is due to the myriad spaces within the tufa’s make-up. All of those tiny to not-so-tiny spaces were created by the spaces vacated by decomposed, organic material that became entrapped within the tufa as it was formed. This new Garden will be planted with saxifrages and saxitile plants continuing to build out the Gardens’ valuable and special collection of rare and hard to grow plants. Project Cost: $30,000 Raised $4,000

Only a few of the projects have been highlighted and more information is available about any of these projects by contacting Development Director, Melissa Ebone here.

We wish you many moments of connection with the people you love in this winter season. Thank you for all you do to partner with us. You can also make a donation directly with the button below.
