The Story of the Gardens

Let a Garden Guide share the botanic and cultural beauty of this special place. Pick your experience from the choices below.  

Public Tours

Public tours are available Memorial Day – Labor Day on every day except Fridays and Sundays from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Please meet your guide at the Education Center and plan to arrive 10 minutes early. Tours max at 15 guests, buy your ticket beforehand to ensure your spot.
$10 per person.

Self-Guided Tours

Look for brochures at the Gardens entrance kiosk describing self-paced tours focusing on different themes in the Gardens

GUIDED
A Gardens naturalist will take you on a guided snowshoe. Warm up afterward with a cup of hot chocolate and engage in drop-in activities available in the Education Center. Please plan to arrive 10 minutes before your tour and dress warm.

Winter Tree Trail -Tuesdays 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

While you make your way through the Gardens’ winter wonderland, explore the importance of trees and the alpine environment.

Cost: $10 Includes snowshoe rental.

SELF GUIDED

A self-guided Tree Trail snowshoe tour is available mid-January – March, daily 10:00am–3:00pm. Snowshoes and poles are available at the Education Center in adult & youth sizes.
Snow permitting.

Cost: $5 rental

Private Tours

Available for groups up to 40 persons from June through September. The tour will wind through the beautiful gardens and end at the adorable Schoolhouse Gift Shop in the Children’s Garden. You’ll learn about alpine flora and mountain environments, identification, and the history of Betty Ford Alpine Gardens and Vail. If you have time, the Education Center can be an added stop on your trip.

Tours begin at the Education Center and last roughly one hour.
