Public Tours

Public tours are available Memorial Day – Labor Day on Monday, Thursday & Saturday. 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Please meet your guide at the Education Center and plan to arrive 10 minutes early.
$10 per person.

To comply with local safety precautions, the starting date for public tours is to be determined

Self-Guided Tours

Follow along a choice of three separate self-paced tours each focusing on a different theme of the Gardens. Pick up a self-guided brochure at the Main Entrance kiosk or North Entrance kiosk.

A Gardens naturalist will take you on a guided snowshoe. Warm up afterward with a cup of hot chocolate and engage in drop-in activities available in the Education Center. Please plan to arrive 10 minutes before your tour and dress warm.

Winter Tree Trail -Tuesdays 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

While you make your way through the Gardens’ winter wonderland, explore the importance of trees and the alpine environment.

Winter Web of Life Trail -Wednesdays 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Along a scenic river trail, discover the importance of the riparian web of life and its influence on our local culture and history.

Cost: $10 Includes snowshoe rental.



A self-guided Tree Trail snowshoe tour is available throughout the winter months during Education Center open hours: Monday–Saturday 10:00am–4:00pm. Snowshoes and poles are available at the Education Center in adult & youth sizes.
Snow permitting.

Cost: $5 rental

Private Tours

Available for groups up to 40 persons from June through September. The tour will wind through the beautiful gardens and end at the adorable Schoolhouse Gift Shop in the Children’s Garden. You’ll learn about alpine flora and mountain environments, identification, and the history of Betty Ford Alpine Gardens and Vail. If you have time, the Education Center can be an added stop on your trip.

Tours begin at the Education Center or arrangements can be made to have your Garden Guide meet you. The tour lasts roughly one hour.

$10 per person
