Winter transforms our trails into a peaceful, snow-covered escape, and from January 5 through March 27, our snowshoe program invites visitors to experience that magic up close. Whether you prefer to explore at your own pace on a self-guided adventure or learn along the way with one of our guides on a guided snowshoe tour, there’s a winter experience here for every type of wanderer. Bundle up, breathe in the crisp mountain air, and discover the quiet beauty that only winter can reveal. Recommend for ages 5+.

Wednesdays & Thursdays | 10:30 – 11:30am | $15
Learn about the incredible adaptations of alpine plants and animals, and how you can help protect this fragile ecosystem. Turn your eyes up to the trees and their importance in the mountain ecosystem, inviting you to notice the quiet relationships that keep the forest alive even in the coldest months. Take a peek into Vail’s history. Afterward, warm up in the Education Center and enjoy our engaging permanent and rotating exhibits.
Snowshoe and pole rentals are included. Tour groups will be limited to 10 people. Advance registration is required to secure your spot. Meet your guide at the Education Center.
Self-Guided Snowshoe Tours
Monday-Friday | 10am – 3pm
Rent a pair of snowshoes at the Education Center and explore the trails through the Gardens and along Gore Creek for a quiet winter wonderland experience. Grab a handout to explore each point of interest in detail, go hands-free and let the educational signs along the trail guide your curiosity.
