Facility Rental FAQs

Can I use my own caterer?

Yes. The Gardens has several caterers we work with often that are familiar with the logistics of having an event in Ford Park and at the Gardens. Other caterers are permitted as long as they are familiar with the park.

Catering info:

  • The Gardens does not have a full kitchen and access to counterspace and refrigerator may be limited or unavailable.
  • Vendor access is restricted to 2 vehicles allowed into the park to unload/pick up. Cars then have to be moved to the parking lot.

Can I host a luncheon at the Gardens?

Yes! The Gardens welcomes all types of events. Please check the Facility Rental Packages

No matter the size and scope, facility rentals require Betty Ford Alpine Gardens’ staff time, attention, and resources. As a nonprofit, we use facility rentals as one of our only revenue generating programs. For smaller scope events, please follow the same process, include information on your event and our staff will be in touch with you shortly if accommodations are possible.

Are additional rental hours available?

Additional rental hours are available to add onto your rental package.

The time you or your team needs to setup/breakdown the event is to be included as part of your rental time.

Due to minimal lighting in Ford Park, 9pm is the latest an event can occupy the venue.

Where do my guests park?

Parking is available at Ford Park parking lot which is about a 5 minute walk to the venue. Occasionally is it paid parking ($15) due to a concert or sporting event in Ford Park. Check the Town of Vail Event Parking Schedule to see if Ford Lot will be paid entry. In a sustainability incentive, the Town of Vail will allow free entry to any vehicle carpooling with 4+ people.

Vail Village parking structure is located west of the Gardens and is about a 10 minute walk. It is free during the summer.

Designated vendors can unload/load at the venue via Betty Ford Way and then they will be able to park in Ford Park parking lot.

Your hotel may have a shuttle that could drop your guests off at the Ford Park bus stop. The Gardens are accessible by the free in-town buses, as well.

will there be sound in the background of my event?

Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater is located directly next to the outdoor botanic gardens (Alpine Plaza location). Because of this, we do not host ceremonies at the Alpine Plaza as there will likely be performances, soundcheck or practicing occurring at any time of the day. We are unable to coordinate designated quiet times. Please see the Amphitheater’s calendar for their show schedule and note that it is continually updated.

The Rooftop Terrace, located above the Education Center, is further away from the Amphitheater and less affected by sound.

Is there an inclement weather backup?

Short answer, no. The Rooftop Terrace in an open-air venue. It is mostly covered by a shade structure with a section of dropdown walls. Under the shade structure stays dry. Guests are able to wait out inclement weather in the Education Center.

Events in May and October could have chilly weather, even snow. Heat lamps are permitted on the Rooftop Terrace and can be rented by Event Rents.

How late can my event go?

There is minimal lighting in Ford Park and on the Rooftop Terrace, therefore events must be cleared and cleaned up by 9pm.
