Spring Gardening Workshop Session 2

From Blueprint to Bloom: Professional Garden Design with Vicky Galarraga

Join us at Betty Ford Alpine Gardens this spring to design, prepare, and plant your dream mountain garden.

Stop guessing and start growing. Vicky Galarraga, founder of Vail’s Boutique Gardener, leads this 4-part intensive workshop series designed to take you through the professional process of creating a high-altitude flower bed from scratch.

Hosted in the Education Center at Betty Ford Alpine Gardens, these sessions bridge the gap between world-class inspiration and backyard reality. You will learn to apply the iconic design styles of masters like Piet Oudolf and Penelope Hobhouse specifically to the unique climate of the Vail Valley.

Whether you are starting with a blank slate or refining an existing bed, Vicky’s expert guidance ensures you leave with a technical plan, a curated plant list, and the confidence to dig in.

What You’ll Master:

  • April 14: Site mapping, orientation, and “dreaming” on paper.
  • April 28: Color theory and choosing between annuals, perennials, and natives.
  • May 12: Planting design for the Valley and technical plant lists.
  • May 26: Hands-on soil prep, 811 safety, and laying out your design in the dirt.

Cost: $50 for all four | Tuesdays 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Participants get exclusive early access to our June 12-14 Plant Sale!
