Summer Speaker – Dr. Tracee Metcalfe
Dr. Tracee Metcalfe is an internal medicine physician and mountaineer, and the first U.S. woman to summit all fourteen of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks, including K2, Annapurna, and Nanga Parbat.
Born in Southern California, her passion for climbing was sparked after moving to Colorado, where she immersed herself in the state’s fourteeners. Her medical career became intertwined with the mountains during her time with the National Park Service on Denali, where she provided medical care and participated in rescue operations. That experience led to her work as an expedition doctor on Himalayan peaks including Manaslu, Everest, Makalu, and Cho Oyu.
Her years in the Himalaya deepened her connection to the people and communities of the region. Through her work with the dZi Foundation, she supports initiatives that improve quality of life in rural Nepal — projects designed and led by the communities themselves.
