Painting in the Gardens
Plein Air Painting in the Gardens with Cheryl St. John
2019 Dates: August 7, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This one day painting workshop will focus on plein air painting and how to simplify a composition and work quickly to complete a painting in under 3 hours. The goal will be to paint a small painting in the morning and another after the lunch break in the afternoon. The gardens are full of color so we will work on color mixing and getting the right temperature which is a very important part of mixing colors. Compositions can be difficult to find when there is so much to choose from so we will be looking for simple shapes and values to draw from and go from there to completion. Just some of these simple steps will improve your outdoor painting and you’ll soon be a pro at plein air painting! Class will meet in the garden at 9 a.m. with a quick demonstration by Cheryl and then each individual will set up and paint until noon. We will break for lunch and then return to our easels until 3 pm. Please bring a sack lunch and plenty of water to drink. A supply list will be emailed out upon registration. For more information or to register, please call Cheryl at 303-947-4428 or email at Class fee: $65
